Our Services

At LevelField Consultants, we offer consultancy services to both local and overseas clients to ensure accessibility and seamless connectivity is achieved for new constructs and refurbishment projects through reviewing building plans and conducting access audits. In addition, we report on the findings, provide recommendations and offer solutions while taking into consideration constraints of existing designs, structures and space. Involved in all stages of the design process, we aim to go beyond minimum compliance to the Code on Accessibility in the Built Environment, underscoring on the importance of inclusion and safety for all with an emphasis on Universal Design.

Our auditors are trained with a comprehensive knowledge and possess strong commitment on issues pertaining to disability and disability-related matters which enables us to deliver practical solutions to meet the differing needs of our clients. Having personal experiences on accessibility issues, we use that knowledge to explain the how’s and why’s of accessibility in a functional and practical manner.

We offer the following services:

Comprising individuals with and without disabilities, the team possess vast experience and knowledge of best practices in the field of accessibility and universal design. We also have a comprehensive knowledge with a strong commitment on issues pertaining to disability and disability-related matters which enables us to deliver practical solutions to meet the differing needs of ‘potential customers’ of our clients.

Design Appraisal

Design Appraisal

We review building plans and provide consultation on the accessibility for new-build projects, refurbishment and upgrading projects as well as maintenance programmes.

We assess the potential usability and accessibility of the finished building, make recommendations for improvements, highlight accessibility features and provide information on accessibility features.

We would be able to involve ourselves in all stages of the design process.

Access Audit

Conduct access audits, review plans, assess the potential usability and accessibility, and make recommendations for improvements.

Access Audit
Walk n Talk Audit

Walk-n-Talk Audit

A walk-n-talk audit is a simplified version of an access audit and is usually carried out accompanied by the client. During the walk-n-talk, the auditor discusses the main positive and negative accessibility features and provide necessary solutions for improvements.

This is especially useful for organisations and event organisers who wish to determine the accessibility of the venue e.g. hotels, open-areas and event halls to ensure an inclusive event.

Training

Conduct talks, lectures and workshops on accessibility, universal design and other related matters to institutions, relevant authorities, architects, developers and facility managers to have a better understanding on the “how” and “why” on the Code of Accessibility in the Built Environment.

Training

In addition, LevelField Consultants promote the need for an inclusive environment to ensure the participation of everyone in the community. Do contact us for more information. Our services are designed to suit the needs and budget of our clients.

What is Universal Design?

Universal Design (UD) or Inclusive Design refers to the design of products and the environment which is usable to the greatest extent possible by people of ALL ages, size and with varying ABILITIES.

Universal Design respects human diversity (since every individual is unique) and promotes the inclusion of all people in all activities of life.

Why Universal Design?

Universal Design (UD) or Inclusive Design refers to the design of products and the environment which is usable to the greatest extent possible by people of ALL ages, size and with varying ABILITIES.

  • Puts the person first – a people-centred approach.
  • Ensures that environments, products, services and interfaces are usable by people of all ages and abilities.
  • Have a deeper understanding on the individual’s need and their aspirations so as to deliver more usable and desirable products.
  • Explore and appreciate how different individuals live, work and play; in particular, discover how people actually interact with products and services.
Universal Design

7 Principles of Universal Design

The 7 Principles of Universal Design were developed in 1997 by a working group of architects, product designers, engineers and environmental design researchers, led by the late Ronald Mace in the North Carolina State University. These Principles may be applied to evaluate existing designs, guide the design process about the characteristics of more usable products and environments.
